Updated platform incorporates additional medically-proven features designed to help consumers live a healthier lifestyle
Los Angeles (July 1, 2016) – Olumia Life, a doctor-designed health and fitness application, today announced the launch of their updated health program. The redesign added features backed by extensive medical research to provide consumers with a lifestyle application that can help them better manage their fitness, nutrition and sleep. Olumia Life, formerly YouPlus Health, also refined their company name to be more in line with their overall mission of becoming a lifestyle application for consumers.
Some of the major changes to the application include:
- Scoring System Based on Proven Behavioral Theories: The updated scoring system offers consumers a more complete and well-rounded understanding of their overall health to help guide them through necessary lifestyle changes. The system is based on vast amounts of research and behavioral theories that are proven to motivate people to maintain their engagement.
- Integration of Wearable Devices: Wearable devices for health tracking are continuing to grow in popularity. Olumia Life added the capability to pull this data into the application; however, it does not stop there. Once the data is collected, Olumia Life provides comprehensive context around the data in order to create an integrated continuum of health information for consumers. The program virtually interprets each individual’s data in order to provide customized and meaningful advice to help people make lifestyle improvements.
- Personalized Lifestyle Tips: Studies show that in order to maintain sustainable behavior change, people need to make very small changes in their lifestyle that continue to build. In an effort to help consumers through this difficult process of behavior change, Olumia Life added daily, personalized lifestyle tips to provide users with small, actionable ways to improve their daily habits. These tips are based on the individual’s goals, progress and personal habits and help guide them to a healthier lifestyle.
“Our mission is to create an application that is based solely on proven theories and can be trusted by consumers and physicians. This updated version continues to build off this mission,” said Steven Willey, MD, and Chief Scientist of Olumia Life.
Olumia Life completed a pilot study that was published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. The study found that users of Olumia Life’s mobile application experienced significant reductions in body weight, waist circumference, and both systolic and diastolic blood pressures, while attaining significant increases in HDL and VO2 max. The redesign builds off this already trusted and proven methodology to create a more expansive and integrated platform for consumers.
“This new version of Olumia Life was designed to construct an even better experience for our users,” said Charlie Hale, Director of Product of Olumia Life. “We wanted to incorporate smarter content and more customized feedback to make the experience more personalized and thus more effective for the user.”
